Strawberries!

After a very cold April starting all our crops off about two weeks behind normal, the very hot May caught us back up.  It seems like we’re right about average again, and that means IT’S TIME FOR STRAWBERRIES!!!

We’ve been able to pick more and more strawberries for the market these last couple days, and TODAY we’ve opened the berry patch for pick your own!

Here’s a quick refresher on how we do pick-your-own berries. Come into the market with your non-glass containers, and we’ll weigh them and explain where to go for picking.  If you don’t have containers, we have plastic buckets for sale.  Right now we’ll just have strawberries available to pick, but later on we’ll have red raspberries, then black raspberries, then blueberries (I’ll keep you posted).  Strawberries are one price, raspberries another, and blueberries usually another, so you’ll need separate containers if you’re picking multiple things later in the season.  Anyway, once you’re done, bring your berries back in, and we’ll get them weighed for you.  Or on busy days, we have someone out by the fields to check you out right there.  But please come into the market to check in every time you come.  Sometimes where we’re picking changes…sometimes we’re picked out and we’ve had to close the fields temporarily…a lot of different things can happen.

Hours – Our hours for the rest of this week are the following:  Today we’re open until 5pm.  On Friday (tomorrow), we’ll be open from 8am – 5pm.  Then Saturday will start our full summer hours: Tuesdays-Saturdays 8am-6pm and Sundays 11am-5pm.  We’re still closed on Mondays.

Strawberry Jam-boree!
June 16th and 17th

Mark your calendars for our annual Strawberry Jam-boree!  This is our festival to celebrate all things strawberry.  With tons of strawberries (including u-pick), live music, food trucks and other activities, it’s sure to be a good time for everyone in the family!  Some of the events occurring at particular times are listed below.
