It’s been a busy couple of weeks here as we’re trying to get a ton of outdoor odds and ends finished up before the snow flies. And I’ve been starting to catch up on all the bookkeeping (the worst part of my job) which I’ve been neglecting since strawberries started back in June. (If my accountant is reading this, don’t worry, I’m joking. I would never neglect bookkeeping. It is VERY important. It is actually the BEST part of my job.)
And since it’s getting close to Thanksgiving, it also means it’s just about time to cut off the online bakery ordering for the holiday. I’m going to cut off the online ordering by 5pm on Sunday (tomorrow). If you procrastinate past that point, you’ll have to call in during business hours on Tuesday (10am-5pm), and we will TRY to fill your order for Wednesday. If you procrastinate until Wednesday…you might be out of luck. We’ve maxed out what we can fit in the ovens the last couple years, and we have a lot more online orders this year than ever before. So please don’t procrastinate any longer. Here’s the link: https://rittmanorchards.com/product-category/bakery-ordering/
As we do every year, we’re going to have the farm market closed Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday. We always get together with family, and since we aren’t able to take much (any) time off during the rest of the year, we close for a couple days around Thanksgiving (and Christmas and New Years). We will be back open on Saturday, which is also Small Business Saturday. So please come out and shop local, and support your other local small businesses, too! Amanda’s done a great job of getting us stocked with tons of cool books, kitchen gadgets, toys, and much, much more this holiday season!
Even though the market will be closed, Bent Ladder will be open noon – 9pm on Friday. They will also be open this Wednesday from 11am – 5pm, in case you want to get some wine or cider to go with your Thanksgiving meals. I don’t usually talk much about the cidery in this blog, since I tend to ramble on about orchard things too much already, but I’m going to make an exception this time. This past week, we had to say goodbye to our tasting room manager, Sarah. It was very sad, but she decided it was time to move on and pursue other opportunities. So we’re really bummed about Sarah, but we’re also really excited to welcome our new tasting room manager, Jerrilynn! Jerrilynn is coming in with a bunch of great ideas for the business and lots of plans for new and exciting events. In fact, this Friday night is our first ever Comedy night! And there’s a lot more in the works, so you’ll definitely want to keep up with what’s going on over at Bent Ladder, if you don’t already. You can follow Bent Ladder on Facebook and Instagram or keep up with all the events on the website or by signing up for the newsletter. Oh, and we can now ship our wines to most states…check our online store. Ok, Bent Ladder sales pitch over. Thank you for humoring me!
Ok, I’m really starting to fade. I think it’s time for bed. Having a toddler and a farm is definitely a blessing, but it sure is a lot of work! I’ll talk to you again soon. Have a good weekend!
