U-Pick Open Tomorrow and a Shaker Square Update

Hi everyone,

Wow, you guys like your strawberries! Sunday was even crazier than Friday. Luckily we had today to recover (and for the strawberry patch to recover, too). We’ve started some more pickers to try to keep up better with picked berries in the market. And I think I have a plan to handle u-pick better, also. It won’t affect anything on your end. Strictly more equipment and staffing.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that we will be open for picking again tomorrow morning at 9am. We will try to be open as many days out of the week as we can (except Mondays. We’re always closed Mondays). But if these first two days were any indication, we will probably have more days coming up this season where we get picked out and have to close for a day or two.

In case you haven’t seen my previous emails, there are several changes to picking and our farm this year. Here is a link to a previous post/newsletter with details: https://rittmanorchards.com/2020/06/11/strawberries-3/

The other thing I wanted to mention is a change to the Shaker Square market. Don’t worry, we’ll still be at the farmers’ market on Saturdays! But we tried to do online pre-ordering for Shaker this past week, and it’s just not going to work for us. With all of the orders that we are packing for our store and deliveries near our farm already, we just can’t handle packing orders for up there as well.  So everything at Shaker Square is going back to first come first served. I apologize about that, and for any confusion this creates. We tried. We just can’t handle pre-orders there. Thank you for your understanding.

Ok, that’s all I’ve got for right now. I’ll talk to you again soon. Thanks for following along with our farm. Stay safe.
