Jonagold

Jonagold

Flavor: Even sweet/tart balance

Approximate Ripening: Mid September

Uses: Eating, cooking, juicing, hard cider

Trivia: As the name implies, Jonagold is a cross between a Jonathan and a Golden Delicious.  It first came to market in 1943.

Notes: So you’re an indecisive apple lover?  Can’t quite figure out if you prefer a tart or sweet apple?  Why choose?  Have a Jonagold, which combines Jonathan tartness and Golden Delicious sweetness into one package.  It’s a big package, too: Jonagolds tend to grow large, so share it with friends and spread the apple love.
