Trivia: Swiss Gourmet, a cross between Golden Delicious and Idared, was developed in Switzerland starting in 1958 and eventually patented in 1989.  The apple is known as Arlet in Europe; confusing, since Arlet is a town in France, and Swiss Gourmet hails from Switzerland.

Notes: Swiss Gourmet truly looks like a cross between its parents, taking they yellow skin base of golden delicious and adding Idared’s pinkish sheen.  It is a small, sweet, sun-blushed apple that is great for the kids’ lunchbox.
