It’s that time of year again…time to order your Michigan tart cherries! If you’re not familiar, every year we get a big order of Montmorency tart cherries from Michigan, perfect for baking and all sorts of other culinary uses. They come pitted and in their own juice…no preservatives or sugar or anything added. As a result, they’re perishable, so we don’t order many more than what we take in preorders. And if you do purchase some, you’ll want to use them or freeze them within a few days. What most people seem to do is divide them up into freezer bags of whatever quantities they most commonly use for a pie, etc., and then freeze whatever they’re not using right away.
They come in 10# and 30# containers, and we get two deliveries in July a week apart from each other. We don’t have this year’s prices or exact delivery dates yet, but last year the two quantities were $21.50 and $49.50, respectively, and the deliveries were on July 14th and 21st.
If you place a pre-order, we will call you in late June or early July to confirm that you still want your cherries and to give you the exact price as well as your choice of delivery dates. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to call or email us!
