School Trips

At Rittman Orchards & Farm Market, we want children to have an authentic, hands-on experience of what it takes to harvest and prepare apples for the market.

Our field trips begin the first week of September and run through approximately the third week of October.

FIELD TRIP SCHEDULE

Tuesday–Friday | 9:30*–10:30 AM

*Our schedule is somewhat flexible. If your group needs to adjust the start time slightly, please make a note of it when submitting your application.

YOUR ORCHARD EXPERIENCE

After arriving at the farm, your orchard guide, owner Amanda Vodraska, will meet your group at the front porch of our farm market.

We’ll begin by visiting our large 35°F cooler, where we store our produce until it is ready for the market. From there, we’ll explore our warehouse and learn how we prepare apples for sale.

We’ll then walk through our market to see how apples are displayed and sold to our customers.

Before heading into the orchard, children will enjoy a sample of our apples and apple cider.

Then comes the best part—picking your own apples! We’ll head into the orchard together, where children can experience harvesting apples firsthand.

We’ll also use our tractor and wagon to tour the property, giving your group a closer look at our farm and how we grow and harvest the produce that eventually makes its way to our market.

PRICING

  • 12-child minimum ($96 minimum purchase)
  • Teachers and chaperones attend free

HOMESCHOOL & PARENT-ORGANIZED GROUPS

We know that homeschool, parent-organized groups, and smaller groups often attend as families, and not every child needs an individual bag of apples.

For these groups, we offer flexible bag sizes so families can choose how much they’d like to pick.

Apple Bag Price

Peck $15
½ Bushel $27

$70 minimum purchase per group.

The minimum purchase applies to the entire group, not each individual family.

All homeschool and parent-organized groups receive the same one-hour guided orchard experience, including the farm tour, apple and cider samples, tractor and wagon tour, and apple picking.

RULES & EXPECTATIONS

Because Rittman Orchards & Farm Market is a working farm, we have a few expectations for visiting groups. These guidelines help us keep everyone safe and ensure that all of our guests have a fun and enjoyable experience.

  • No running in the orchard, parking lot, or other areas of the farm.
  • No kicking or throwing apples in the orchard.
  • No climbing trees.
  • Children must be supervised by an adult at all times while on our property.
  • Children may not enter the market without a parent or supervising adult.

Please help us make your group’s visit safe, enjoyable, and respectful of our farm and our staff. Thank you for helping us provide a great experience for everyone!

PAYMENT

We accept cash, credit cards, or personal checks. Payment is collected at the end of your field trip.

If your school or organization requires an official invoice prior to your visit, please let us know when you submit your application.

Homeschool and parent-organized groups may pay as individual families. The group’s purchases will be combined to meet the $70 minimum group purchase.
