School Trips - Rittman Orchards

Hi! Here at Rittman Orchards and Farm Market, we want to provide school children with an authentic experience of how to harvest apples. We start field trips the first week of September and end around the third week of October.

PRICING OPTIONS

School Groups

$8/child* (MINIMUM – 12 CHILDREN)

*We only use our half peck bags for our school groups. Adults/parents/teachers may also purchase additional bags for $8/each. The ½ peck bags fit about 10-12 medium/large sized apples.

Homeschool/Parent Organized Groups

Over the years, we have realized that homeschool/parent organized groups often come in family units and not everyone needs their own bag, therefore we have added a per bag option for homeschool groups ONLY.

$8/half peck bags, $15/peck bags, $27/half bushel bags

MINIMUM PURCHASE – $70 for the whole group

FIELD TRIP SCHEDULE

PLEASE NOTE OUR FIELD TRIPS ARE SCHEDULED TUESDAYS-FRIDAYS, 9:30am-10:30am*

*This time is a bit flexible. Please make a note in your application if you need to shift the times a little.

After you arrive on the property, your orchard guide (owner, Amanda Vodraska) will meet you on the front porch of our market. From here, we visit our huge 35 degree cooler building where we store produce until it is ready to go into the store. Next, we explore our warehouse to show how we get apples ready for the market. Lastly, we take a walk through the store to show how the apples are displayed and sold in our store!

At this point, children will receive a sample of some of our apples and apple cider.

When we are ready to go pick, everyone gets their bags and we go out to pick apples! We are also using our big tractor and wagon to give groups a tour of our property.

RULES AND EXPECTATIONS

Since we are a working farm, we have several expectations for visiting groups. These are in place to keep everyone safe and happy during their visit. We do not permit running in the orchard or parking lot. No kicking or throwing apples in the orchard or climbing trees. All children must be monitored by an adult at all times while on our property.

Children are not allowed in the market, unless accompanied by a parent or supervising adult.

PAYMENT

We take cash, credit or personal checks. Payment is made at the end of the field trip. Please let us know if you need an official invoice before you come out. Home school groups or other parent-organized groups can pay as individual families.
