Newsletter: Am I a Woman in Agriculture?

Hey Everyone!

Happy Friday!

It’s been quite the week. Thankfully, I’ve been able to work outside a few times and the nice weather has soothed my spirits and calmed my nerves. And my nerves have been greatly frayed by multiple stressors at home. 🙁

After Chris broke his arm, our house was hit with the January stomach bug. I will spare you the details, but it was bad. Oliver then developed a double ear infection!

I have been operating in survival mode for the past several weeks and I did not get to my regular Tuesday newsletter. It has been quite hectic here.

On a positive note, I received a really cool call this week from the OSU Extension Office. They asked me…little ‘ol me…to be on a panel at the East Ohio Women in Agriculture conference in April!

I immediately felt like saying no. I would be an impostor at a conference like this! I still feel like I am an educator, not a “woman of agriculture.” But the more I thought about it, the more I felt compelled to accept this opportunity.

I feel this conference will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with other women who face the same issues as I do working in the field of farming. I am really looking forward to attending the other panels. Some of the break out sessions include topics like: Influence and Inspire: Social Media Marketing for Small Business, Building Biodiversity in the Landscape, and Where Does Time Go?: Manage Life in Relation to Time.

I am really excited about this opportunity. If you are interested in learning more about it, I put the link below. 🙂

Cheers,

Amanda, Chris, Abbie and Ollie

Camp Orchard

Guess what?! Berry Camp is FULL! I have started a waiting list, so email me at amanda@rittmanorchards.com if you are interested.

We still have space in Camp Orchard. Please share this with friends. I think when kids hear about the camp, they might think it’s a kind of an odd idea. Why would I want to go pick fruit at a camp? How could that be fun?

I was nervous too, as it was our first year trying out this camp, but I was so please with how much my campers LOVED being here last summer!

In fact, HALF of the campers from last year wanted to come back.

That says a lot.

Spread the word about Camp Orchard! There really is nothing else out there like it.
