Fall is here, and that means exciting things at the Orchard! This weekend is the beginning of both our fall u-pick and our fall festivals!!
We’ve got many of the details regarding our Fall Festival Weekends posted on our Events page already, so I won’t repeat everything here. If you follow the link you can see the daily schedule of important times. The festivals run on both Saturdays and Sundays through October 13th, and there’s no admission charge…you just pay for what you purchase.
As for the u-pick, this weekend will kick off both our apples and pumpkins. Picking for both will be on top of our hill and will be available during our business hours (9-6 on Saturday and 11-5 on Sunday). You will need to drive up there, past the u-pick strawberry fields. The minimum purchase for apples is a half bushel bag for $20. We will have at least Cortland, Crimson Gold, Jonagold, and Holiday available for picking. There will be bags available at our u-pick tent, and we can accept credit cards up there. There will NOT be picking available around the market this weekend…all picking will be on top of our hill. U-pick apples will be available around the market starting next week.
The u-pick pumpkin patch is right next to the u-pick apple orchard on top of the hill. U-pick pumpkins will be $0.40/lb, and we will provide wagons to pick into. You must drive up to the pumpkin patch…wagons are not allowed out of the picking area. Pumpkin picking will only be available on Saturdays and Sundays this year, and will run until the end of October.
In other news, we currently have 14 varieties of apples in our market already. We’re going to be picking our early strain of Fuji and our Cortland today also. I’m not sure whether we’ll get them in the market today or tomorrow. Our fall squash is starting to ripen…we have a few right now and will have loads more in the next couple days. We also have a large selection of vegetables (including my dad’s amazing sweet corn), lots of fall decorations, and our incredible seedless grapes. (The grapes are Abigail’s favorite right now. She ate an entire bunch of the green grapes yesterday morning and then discovered the purple ones and started in on those. We may have been paying for that last night….) You can always see what we have in our market on our What’s Ripe page.

My daughter’s homecoming is this Saturday October 5. There is a group of 8. We were wondering if we could come take pictures at your orchard, and if so is there a cost?
Hi Sherrie,
Thanks for thinking of us! We do have a cost for Homecoming/Prom photo shoots. It’s $10 per couple with a $50 minimum for the first hour. All scheduling goes through our cidery manager, Sarah. Her email is info@bentladder.com . With the short notice and this being a festival weekend for us, I’m not sure if she’ll still be able to schedule you in, but it’s worth a try. Thanks again for thinking of us.
