We are now u-picking strawberries, red raspberries and blueberries.
U-pick has been going really well this year!
Black raspberries should be coming up soon.
We don’t grow blackberries here anymore, but we have a local woman who brings some to sell in our market and they are amazing. These should be ready in a week and a half or so.
If you want to know what we are u-picking, we usually only know a day in advance. You can either call our store at 6pm and listen to the message or check this link:
PLEASE NOTE: Both Rittman Orchards and Bent Ladder will be CLOSED July 4th. Take Care, Amanda, Chris & Abbie
Healthy Snacking
We have put together these wonderful little snack packs for our store. I have already snagged myself a few during a busy day when I need a little snack, but don’t want to eat another cookie! 🙂 Pick one up for the car ride home when you stop by for your berries.
The Tart Update
We know a little bit more about the cherry situation. As I mentioned in a previous newsletter, the Michigan farm who supplied our cherries in the past retired. This year, the cherries will be coming out of Ontario. They will be packed in their own juice; however, may be more frozen than in past years due to the travel distance. There will be ONE pick-up date: July 31st.
We can’t take orders quite yet, as we still don’t know the price of the cherries. We know the price is up a significant amount from last year. We will let you know when you can place your orders.
The Bee’s Knees
Although we don’t keep bees in our family, we do have a wonderful beekeeper, Dave Hellman, who sets up his hives on our property. He does an amazing job managing the hives and bringing us Orchard Honey!
I love his colorful apiary, which I learned from a customer, is on purpose. Apparently, bees see in color and that’s how they find their way home! Bees are so cool.
Pick up some honey today!
Cooper’s Corner

Someone wants a bite of my fresh strawberry dessert!
Cooper loves strawberries, especially when Abbie gives him the tops of hers. He will follow her all over the house when she has a strawberry snack.
He is loving his walks with Chris on the long leash. He frolics through the tall grass and runs as far as he can get before we call him back. He’s a good pup.
